Since yesterday afternoon, I've been loosing internet connections at the xbox and pc. Not sure what the problem is. Don't know if my xbox, router or modem is getting ready to crap out. If I knew more about how to set up a network, I could probably figure it out. Figures, We finally get an X-Cup going and I can't get online.

Watch the "sync" light (could be called something else) on the modem when the internet goes out. Usually it'll blink when it's trying to sync up, and be solid when it's online. If it starts blinking when you lose the internet, it's an ISP thing, either the line coming to the house or the modem. If you're not sure which one it is, unplug the incoming cable and I'm sure you'll find out ... heh.
If that doesn't happen, watch the lights on the router. There should be an "internet" light (or WAN maybe). That light should be solid unless there's activity. If that light is blinking, and nobody is using the internet (xbox off, all computers off) then the problem is related to the cable between the modem and router. Either a bad cable, or a bad port on either end of it. If your modem has more than one port, try another one on the modem, or a new cable if you happen to have one.
Outside of that (you said both go out) it could be the router, either the WAN port or the router itself. Depending on the setup for the modem, you could plug the PC and/or XBox directly into the modem. DSL usually requires pppoe to be set up, so if you have to enter a username/password into the router to maintain the connection, the best bet would be to plug your PC into it. I know Vista and Windows 7 can do pppoe without extra software, so hopefully you don't have pppoe, or you have one of those OS's.
I can't remember if I gave you my phone number before, but you're welcome to call me sometime too. Since we've moved, our home phone quit working (go figure), but shoot me a PM and I'll give you my cell if you don't have it and want to call.
